Bad Leaders Vs Good Leaders

I am not obvious why it still surprises me, but clubs are still hiring and promoting habitancy in leadership positions that need way too much grooming or promoting habitancy way over their capabilities. This fosters the mass exodus of good employees and yes, future leaders as well. Employees tend to leave leadership and management, not companies. Also clubs seem to forget but need to remember this: A firm will rise or fall based on the decision leaders make. This article will eye some bad leadership practices vs. Good leadership practices.

  • After leaving a meeting with a bad leader, you feel exhausted and de-motivated. After leaving a meeting with a good leader, you feel rejuvenated, motivated, and even inspired.
  • Bad leaders set appointments and are late for them or don't show up at all; good leaders are early, greet you, and respect your time.
  • Bad leaders talk down to you; good leaders talk you up.
  • Bad leaders put themselves and their emotions above the team; good leaders put themselves last and the mission and the team first.
  • Bad leaders roughly never use this expression "you have two ears and one mouth listen twice as much as you speak." Good leaders not only use that expression but live by it.
  • Bad leaders think they are the team; good leaders know they are a part of a team.
  • Bad leaders love group thought; good leaders love, treasure, and know how to use personel thought.
  • Bad leaders construct themselves; good leaders construct other good leaders.
  • Bad leaders expect you to know what they are thinking; good leaders communicate their thoughts

BAD

If you have read this article and figured out you are a bad leader, not to fret there is still hope. There is a fix-it, but only you can fix it; of policy with the help of your reserve group and a few classes. First you will have to do one of the hardest things you've done - you are going to have to do a self analysis.

A self diagnosis requires you to look into the abyss, face your demons and what will emerge is a leader ready to take his or her rightful place. A brief yet productive way to do a self diagnosis is to write down all of your good leadership qualities. construct a strategy to enhance and develop on your good qualities. Next, write down all of your weak traits, and then construct a strategy to shed yourself of those traits.

When developing your self-improvement strategy give yourself goals such as a time frame in which a obvious trait is going to be conquered. Also give yourself leeway, because you are human and may revert back to your old ways and that is ok, as long as you identify it and do something about it. Remember, person or something trusted you enough to put you into a position of power and just like in the movie Spiderman (in my Uncle Ben's voice), "With great power comes great responsibility."
